Harnessing the ‘power of three’ to assist local nonprofits with grant expertise and training.
Ensuring local nonprofits have free philanthropy training and access to nationwide foundations and their grant and funding opportunities is the focus of a unique partnership between Las Positas College (LPC), Tri Valley Nonprofit Alliance (TVNPA) and Three Valleys Community Foundation. All three organizations are members of Candid’s nationwide network of libraries, community foundations, and other nonprofit agencies, thanks to an agreement signed by the Chabot-Las Positas College Board of Trustees in August 2021.
Branded under the name, The Philanthropy Institute, this triad partnership will provide students, nonprofits and community members with free public access to Candid’s electronic databases, The Foundation Directory Online and Foundation Grants to Individuals Online.
Foundation Directory Online
For serious grant seekers and fundraising professionals seeking to strengthen their nonprofit organization, possibly the most important of Candid’s resources is the Foundation Directory Online (FDO), which delivers quality funding prospects. By combining exhaustive data with intuitive search functionality and informative data visualizations, FDO delivers information nonprofits need to reach fundraising goals quickly and efficiently. Included are profiles of more than 166,000 foundations, corporate giving programs, and grantmaking public charities, as well as profiles of more than 800,000 grant recipients and information on more than 16.8 million awarded grants. These fully searchable databases include detailed profiles of all active U.S. foundations and grantmaking public charities, as well as an extensive file of recent grants awarded by the nation’s top funders. Students and community members are welcome to use the databases in person at the Las Positas College Learning Resource Center (LRC). Local nonprofits headquartered in or serving the Tri-Valley region area may also register for online, remote access to the directory.
Free Training & Classes
