Sunol Relief and Recovery Fund

The Sunol Relief and Recovery Fund will support the long-term needs of the Sunol Glen School, local businesses and community residents, following the unprecedented early 2023 rains and flooding that hit the greater SF Bay Area.

Support the Fund

In early 2023, an atmospheric river converged upon the SF Bay Area, with the community of Sunol hit especially hard. Days of significant rains and flooding caused extensive and widespread damage throughout the area – especially at the Sunol Glen School, a K-8 community school operating since 1914.

The Sunol Relief and Recovery Fund will support the long-term restoration efforts needed at the school, as well as assist local Sunol businesses and residents.  While FEMA, private insurance and county funds will cover some of the losses, a significant gap remains with many long-term recovery needs.

For example, Sunol Glen School is looking to replace three portable classrooms, fencing, playground equipment, laptops and classroom materials like books, school supplies and rugs, as well as compost bins, soil and tools to restore the school’s garden.

The special fund will benefit The Sunol Glen Community Club and The Sunol Business Guild, with guidance from The Sunol Citizens Advisory Council – ensuring that funds are managed and distributed by residents who know the needs of the region and care about restoring the quality of life for all Sunol residents.
