Hayward Fallen Firefighters Fund
In partnership with Hayward Firefighters Local 1909, Three Valleys Community Foundation is hosting and serving as fiscal manager of the Hayward Fallen Firefighters Fund – which launched in the fall of 2026 following the tragic, sudden death of Hayward Firefighter Travis Foster.
The Hayward Fallen Firefighters Fund exists for the purpose of allowing residents of Hayward and members of the greater community to support families of fallen Firefighters, as they navigate the immediate and long-term challenges following their loss.
Contributions to this Fund will support the wife and two young children of Hayward Firefighter Travis Foster following his unexpected passing.
Travis Foster served the Hayward community with dedication and pride since February 2018. He was a deeply valued member of the Hayward Fire Department and Local 1909, but most importantly, he was a husband, father, brother, and friend.
After struggling with PTSD and the cumulative impacts of his service, Travis tragically took his own life. His death is being recognized as a line-of-duty death.
Travis leaves behind his wife, Jenifer, his son, John, and his daughter, Scarlett. They are now facing an unimaginable loss and a future without the husband and father they love.
As firefighters, we take care of our own and we know we are part of a larger community that does the same. Our responsibility now is to stand beside Jenifer and their children—not just today, but in the years ahead. We invite everyone whose life has been touched by Travis, our fire service, or the Hayward community to stand with us.
This fundraiser will provide meaningful financial support and stability for the Foster family as they navigate this difficult time. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.
