Mission

1 in 26 Athlete Foundations empowers individuals with epilepsy to thrive through athletics. We foster a supportive community, raise awareness about seizure safety, and fund medical treatments and research. By creating athletic events across the community to showcase the talents and resilience of athletes with epilepsy, we inspire others to embrace their unique abilities and defy limitations and to never let any medical condition stop them from doing what they love.

ALS CURE Project

Mission

The ALS CURE Project (ACP) has a laser-focused mission to lead and fund research leading to a cure for ALS. The ALS CURE Project is a US 501.3C charity. The ALS CURE Project is an all volunteer organization and operates with a Board of Directors and a Research Council consisting of top ALS researchers. The ALS CURE Project was founded by Mike Piscotty and his son Stephen Piscotty following the passing of Mike's wife, Gretchen Piscotty, who succumbed to ALS in May 2018.

Impact

ACP raises funds and sponsors ALS research to understand the disease which is vital to curing ALS. The ACP has funded over $1M in ALS research with partners such as LLNL and Stanford. ACP leads international collaborations via their ALS Innovation Symposium creating the Roadmap to Cure ALS.

Asian Pacific-Islander American Public Affairs

Mission

To inspire, educate, and empower API community through increased leadership and civic engagement.

Impact

We have over 35 chapters across the nation all working on the same mission. During the pandemic, we have helped the victims of Anti-Asian hate crimes through reporting, advocacy, and funding to assist in education programs as well as legal support. We hold annual internship program for API youth.

Assistance League of Amador Valley

Mission

Assistance League of Amador Valley’s volunteers transform the lives of children and adults through community programs. Our vision is simple: Essential needs are met in our community and families flourish.

Impact

Over 25 years Assistance League of Amador Valley (all volunteer organization) has supported Tri-Valley students in need with appropriate school clothing, books the students take home, & screening the eyes of preschoolers for lazy eye. We provide weekly support to the Tri-Valley Haven Food Pantry.

Be A Mentor, Inc.

Mission

Be a Mentor, Inc. seeks to help children and youth from challenging and vulnerable circumstances develop the assets necessary to make healthy life choices, set realistic goals, act with determination and ultimately build vibrant successful lives for themselves through direct contact and relationships with caring and positive adult role models.

Impact

Be A Mentor(BAM) is proud of how it has adapted its program to serve more youth in the community as we adapt to the "new normal." BAM created a virtual mentoring program to support current matches and scale mentoring so we can share our 30 years of experience with other youth-focused organizations.

BeingwellCA

Mission

BeingwellCA's mission is to reduce anxiety, depression and suicide ideation in our youth. We do this by providing schools, parents, students and communities with workshops, toolkits and training to improve mental health support.
BeingwellCA is the lead agency to create a Mental Health Awareness License Plate for the state of California. The funds raised by this plate will go to the California Department of Education (CDE) for youth mental health supports.

Impact

Being instrumental in putting five Wellness Centers in Acalanes UHSD and then working with SRVUSD to commit to thirty additional centers. We have been told numerous times by young people that these Wellness Centers saved their lives.

Busy Buzzy Bots is a non-profit organization dedicated to igniting a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in children, particularly those in Middle and High school. Busy Buzzy Bots have impacted 1000+ children. We have raised funds via computer programming workshops, selling DC Motor kits and science workshops. We participated in Bay Area Maker Faires, 10+ Children's Business Faires inspiring children and parents about Technology, AI and leadership.

California Community Education Center

Mission

Increase access to education and the arts for students identifying with traditionally underserved communities

Impact

In 2022, with a $1,500 grant, we provided 268 hours of LGBTQIA+ affirming music education and 30 hours of community trainings that promote inclusivity and accessibility.

Children's Emergency Food Bank

Mission

The Children's Emergency Food Bank is a local 501c3 non-profit organization serving Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon and Danville. California since 1969. Our objective is to provide canned and packaged food as well as gift certificates from local markets to obtain fresh foods. We try to give each family enough food for about a week. We also have a large Christmas Giveaway each year. We are an all volunteer organization and rely greatly on donations from individuals and corporations.

CityServe of the Tri-Valley

Mission

CityServe of the Tri-Valley cares for those in crisis by coordinating vital resources and connecting those in need to willing volunteers to walk through life. We exist to mobilize mercy through practical compassion.

Impact

During the pandemic we were able to serve 1,407 households, including nearly 520 single mothers and over 248 children. While the COVID crisis left many without a job and at risk of losing their homes, CityServe prevented 1699 people from becoming homeless 513 people to find shelter.

Culinary Angels

Mission

Culinary Angels prepares and delivers organic, healthy meals to those actively going through cancer treatment and other serious health challenges throughout the cities of Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Danville. Meals are provided free of charge to both recipients and their caregiver. We believe that nutrition is a critical component of support during a serious health challenge, and our meals provide essential nutrients and a sense of hope to those in need.

Impact

We have created a mostly volunteer organization and an amazing community built on love and respect that impacts the lives of those that need it. We have informed, educated, and empowered others to eat healthier foods and live a healthier lifestyle.

Dentists on Wheels

Mission

The Dentists On Wheels (DOW) Free Dental Clinic at St. Vincent de Paul aims to improve the overall health of East Bay adults and seniors by providing access to free dental treatment and oral health education. DOW recognizes barriers exist that can prevent patients from seeking or receiving oral health care. DOW is committed to breaking down barriers for patients without financial means so vulnerable, low-income, uninsured patients can access the free preventative and restorative oral health needed to thrive.

Impact

In 2022, Dentists on Wheels was able to provide low-income, uninsured adults and seniors of the East Bay a value of $553,613 in free dental care. Most hadn't seen a dentist in over 10 years due to financial limits. Our patients are now able to chew normal nutritious diets and smile pain free again!

Discovery Counseling Center

Mission

We are a community-based non-profit organization serving the San Ramon Valley and surrounding areas for over 50 years. Our mission is to be the community’s leader in mental wellness by providing affordable, high quality, culturally appropriate, and accessible counseling services and programs; offering excellent and highly regarded training for future mental health professionals; advocating for and creating greater awareness of the importance of mental wellness in our community; and the importance of early intervention in substance abuse and mental health treatment.

Impact

We are grateful for community support which allows us to sustain access and affordability for mental health support while developing new programs to meet dynamic community needs. Annually, our clinic holds approximately 8,000 therapy sessions at our clinics in Danville and San Ramon. An additional 3,000 sessions are held through school-based early intervention programs.

Dublin Arts Collective

Our Mission: The Dublin Arts Collective (DAC) is a non-profit organization promoting and supporting visual arts in the city of Dublin and the surrounding region through collaboration with artists, the communities and other art associations.

Dublin Partners In Education

Mission

Dublin Partners in Education (DPIE) is a K-12 education based non-profit organization that engages the community to raise much-needed funds in support of students and schools within the Dublin Unified School District. DPIE was originally founded in 1992 to unite the community and local businesses to bridge the funding gap in public education.

Impact

DPIE "gives-back" to all Dublin schools and their PFCs to support student programs, supplement learning materials, or to help pay for other activities. We also offer several scholarships to graduating seniors each year.

East Bay Holocaust Education Center

Mission

Our mission is to create a comprehensive resource center in the San Francisco East Bay area to educate people of all faiths about the Holocaust and honor its victims.

Impact

Since being founded in 2021 in Pleasanton, the East Bay Holocaust Education Center (EBHEC) has sponsored over 20 Holocaust education programs in the San Francisco East Bay, many accessible to the public. These include free touring exhibits, lectures, films, plays, reading groups, courses, teacher training, and student art and writing contests to educate and build a community spirit. EBHEC is most proud of recently hosting Violins of Hope East Bay from January-March 2023, which had a total of over 17,800 people attend 60 events, including:
- 3 concerts from February 5-7 (1,400 people)
- 47 free school concerts from January 31 – March 3 (13,500 students and teachers)
- 13 days of exhibits (1,700 people)
- 3 lectures (100 people)
- 4 mini-concerts (800 people)

Embarcadero Media Foundation

Mission

Our mission and purpose at Embarcadero Media Foundation is to enhance the quality of life and democracy in the San Francisco Bay Area by reporting and publishing high quality local news and information, convening events and supporting programs that lead to a more informed, equitable, engaged and cohesive community.

Impact

Embarcadero Media and its newspapers and websites have received numerous awards for editorial and design excellence, including General Excellence and Best Website multiple times from the California News Publishers Association and San Francisco Press Club.

Enneagram Prison Project

Mission

The Enneagram Prison Project (EPP) is on a mission to help people understand why we do what we do, using the Enneagram to inspire transformation - on both sides of the bars - through self-awareness, self-regulation, and self-compassion; we do the work together.

Impact

Since our founding in 2011, EPP has delivered nearly 400 trauma-informed, self-awareness courses to over 10,000 incarcerated individuals around the world. EPP helps people remember their innate goodness; we are transforming correctional facilities from places of punishment to places of healing.

Eugene O'Neill Foundation, Tao House

Mission

To promote the legacy of Eugene O'Neill, America's only Nobel Laureate playwright. O'Neill lived at Tao House in Danville when he wrote his greatest plays. Saved by the O'Neill Foundation, Tao House is a National Historic Site managed by the National Park Service. The Foundation partners with NPS by producing the plays of O'Neill and other outstanding playwrights, maintaining an Artist in Residence program, and offering a free 10-day summer theater workshop to area high school students.

Impact

"One Festival, Two Countries," the partnership to produce O'Neill festivals in Danville and New Ross, Ireland, from which O'Neill's father James emigrated. As a result, Danville and New Ross have become Friendship Cities, a civic partnership celebrated by the Irish Ambassador at Tao House.

Exceptional Needs Network

Mission

Exceptional Needs Network (ENN) is a volunteer organization founded in 2001. For most families, ENN camp is the “once a year respite” break to recharge and be able to do typical family outings while their child with special needs reaps the benefit of attending camp in an environment with his/her peers. Exceptional children. Extraordinary experiences.

Impact

Exceptional Needs Network has been providing camps since 2002. ENN has served over 1,000 campers providing one counselor for every camper.

Fertile GroundWorks

Mission

To alleviate food insecurity and improve food justice within our community by using education to empower individuals to sustainably grow food for themselves and others, then donating the fruits of these lessons to our local food pantries and community kitchens to give to our neighbors in need.

Impact

The hard work of the hundreds of community members who come to our gardens to learn while helping us grow 20,000+ pounds of fresh healthy fruits and vegetables to help our neighbors eat better every year.

Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano

Mission

Leading the fight to end hunger, in partnership with our community and in service of our neighbors in need.

Impact

For over 45 years, we have provided food to our neighbors. When the pandemic hit and we saw lines at our distribution points double almost overnight, we rose to the challenge and ensured no one went without food. We strive to serve all people experiencing hunger and commit to never turn anyone away.

Fostering Wishes' mission is to enhance the lives of foster children in the Tri-Valley area by providing them with essential support, empowering them to become well-adjusted, and preparing them for a self-sufficient future. We've also empowered older foster youth by funding extracurricular activities and awarding trade school scholarships to support their growth.

Futures Explored, Inc

Futures Explored is proud to be able to provide programs and support services to approximately 500 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities ( I/DD). We have provided services for 60 years and these programs support adults with I/DD to lead the lives that they chose.

Go Green Initiative

Mission

The Go Green Initiative (GGI) works together with schools to protect children from adverse environmental conditions, secure access to nutritious food, and conserve natural resources for the future. Through education, training, and strategic support for schools and school districts, the GGI delivers measurable student wellness and improved academic outcomes while cultivating the next generation of environmental stewards.

Impact

Our continued work in the Tri Valley from 2002 to the present has spawned interest in the GGI nationwide. We have been able to help eliminate environmental toxins from schools and provide paid internships for students in under-resourced urban areas like Newark and Camden, NJ and Compton, CA.

Goodness Village

Mission

Our mission is to improve the lives of the unsheltered population by providing a supportive living community in partnership with local businesses, cities, community members, and partner services agencies. We desire to impart basic life skills, education, counseling, micro-enterprise opportunities, apprenticeships, life experiences, peer support and resources to empower residents to improve the quality of their lives on every level.

Goodness Village, established as a 501c non-profit in 2020, was able to open its doors in June of this year to provide permanent affordable housing to those experiencing chronic homelessness. As of September of this year, we now have 28 residents living and thriving in our village community.

GRID Alternatives

Mission

GRID Alternatives envisions a rapid, equitable transition to a world powered by renewable energy that benefits everyone. Our mission is to build community-powered solutions to advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energy.

Impact

Since 2004, we’ve installed solar for 32,441 households and engaged 49,289 people in solar education and training. We have helped low-income individuals and families save more than $734 million in energy costs while preventing over 4 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

HERS Breast Cancer Foundation

Mission

Our mission is to support all individuals healing from breast cancer by providing post-surgical products and services regardless of financial status. Monthly Miracles

Mission

Monthly Miracles is a local community-funded nonprofit that provides life-changing "miracles" to neighbors in the Tri-Valley area facing or fighting homelessness. We mobilize and engage our donors through $1/month donations and use the funds to facilitate housing, vehicle aid, relocation services, or homelessness prevention. We develop and fund a solution that best fits each individual or family. In addition, we work hard to ensure that the clients can sustain themselves in the long term - to retain their dignity and financial independence.

Impact

We help save our neighbors from homelessness each month or prevent homelessness for about eight families/individuals. Our straightforward program facilitates a long-term solution for those ready to receive and sustain their miracles. With $1/month, we engage a wide variety of supporters: from previous clients to youth and retired neighbors on a fixed income - everyone can sow into a miracle for their neighbor in need!

Monument Crisis Center

National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse

Mission

Our mission is to prevent prescription drug related substance use disorder and fatal overdose through our education programs for all ages and our overdose rescue training that includes the distribution of naloxone overdose rescue kits and fentanyl test strips.

Pacific Chamber Orchestra

We are a community-based effort to empower people to chart their course out of poverty and toward self-sufficiency by intentionally creating personal relationships that bridge financial class lines.

Each 6 months, a new cohort of 10 to 20 participants attend a 16 week life skills course as a group. Thereafter groups of 3 begin setting their own goals for work, housing and/or healthcare. These partnerships meet weekly, helping and holding each-other accountable for achieving improvements.

Paws In Need

Mission

Paws In Need, a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to improving animal welfare in our local community. Our primary mission is to reduce dog and cat overpopulation in the Tri-Valley area and beyond through an aggressive spay and neuter program that gives our local residents direct access to affordable services; and to provide cost-share financial assistance to low-income, homeless, and elderly populations to help cover a one-time expense for urgent veterinary procedures.

In 2019 and 2020 combined, our programs served almost two thousand dogs and cats in our local community. Mission

Our mission is to enrich the lives of individuals with special needs and life threatening illness by connecting them with horses, animals, and outdoor education activities that promote healing and growth in all aspects of their daily lives.

RIM takes pride in reaching children as young as 2 with continuous support to individuals past age 18 with inclusivity to provide the best possible quality of life. Set To Thrive

Mission

Set To Thrive seeks to ease the transition of children entering into the foster care system by providing a custom bag filled with new essential items to bring some comfort and confidence during a vulnerable time. Many youth enter the foster care system with only the clothes on their back, and little more. Our Thrive Bags are filled with a new backpack or duffel bag, two days worth of clothing, tennis shoes and hygiene items. Our goal is to bring some comfort and set each youth on a path to thrive.

Impact

Set To Thrive launched in July 2021. We have connected with many agencies in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. We have served over 200 children in our first year.

Shakespeare's Associates, Inc., dba SPARC Theater

Mission

Inspired by William Shakespeare, who through rhetoric and poetry gave voice to the deepest experience of being human, we are committed to creating community through the production of high-quality professional theater experiences. We produce and support theatrical events that celebrate the human experience. We are creating a company that is accessible and fully integrated with the Tri-Valley community and invite the participation of our Central Valley and Greater Bay Area neighbors.

Impact

Our fiscally-sound company supports growth and consistency in education programs: a 10-week in-school program equitably delivered to all LVJUSD 2nd graders and job-based learning internships. Science@Play engaged community resulting in 2 commissions from Latina writers. 17 summer theater festivals.

Shepherd's Gate

Mission

Our mission is to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of women and children suffering from homelessness, addiction, and domestic violence. We serve families in crisis, regardless of race, age, religion, creed, national original, disability, marital, or veteran status. Our programs address the root causes of homelessness and are court-approved for women seeking to regain custody of their children. Full programs are also provided for children healing from trauma.

Impact

Our success rate—an alumni’s ability to sustain housing, sobriety, and employment 12 months post-graduation—was 80% for 20/21; 100% maintained housing and sobriety. In 20/21, 303 individuals received 10,893 bed nights, trauma-informed care, family reunification services, and homelessness prevention.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Inc.

Mission

Unfortunately, there are painfully few options for guardians unable to provide a bed for their child. Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Inc. (SHP) was founded in 2012 to fulfill a specific mission—to see that "No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town!" Through tremendous efforts of SHP Chapters, volunteers, and generous donations, twin beds are built and delivered fully furnished to children ages 3-17 who sleep on floors, couches, and other inadequate situations without the luxury of sleeping on a bed.

Impact

The CA-Alameda Chapter was established in May 2018. Passionately embracing our mission statement and fiercely addressing the emerging and persistent issue of child bedlessness in “their town!” They have built and delivered 420 fully furnished twin beds to bedless children within their service area.

Social Fulcrum

Mission

Social Fulcrum is all about bringing together volunteers who want to serve their community and organizations who need volunteers to serve their purpose.

Impact

It is a social market place connecting volunteers to organizations. It offers a one-stop shop to serve society and earn volunteer credits instantly.

Special Operations - Finding Kids

Mission

Our mission is to protect children and to work towards a society that prioritizes the safety and well-being of its most precious citizens. The organization hires boots-on-the-ground private investigators to find and help missing and exploited children who are most at risk of being trafficked for sex.

Impact

Since our inception in 2017, we have found over 100 missing children, extended counseling and aftercare to 71 children and families, and identified and prosecuted 36 predators.

Spectrum Community Services

Mission

Spectrum Community Services strives to improve the health and safety of seniors and low income residents in Alameda County by enhancing their quality of life and helping them age at home with dignity.

Impact

Spectrum Community Services is proud to give more than a nutritious meal, never missing a day of service; we serve over 200,000 meals to older adults, plus the social & human connection we all need. Keeping the lights on, the water heater/HVAC working, we are here ensuring the healthy & safety of all.

St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County

Mission

St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County (SVdP) serves vulnerable county residents by providing aid to feed, clothe, shelter and heal neighbors in need. SVdP provided over $4.5 million of in-kind aid, (mostly food), and $1.8 million of financial aid, (rental & utility aid) in FY 22-23. The core service SVdP provides is the “Home Visit” where SVdP’s trained volunteers, provide compassionate aid to people in need.

Impact

In 2024, St. Vincent de Paul is celebrating 60 years of service to individuals and families in need. This long-standing, trusted service to people in crisis is highlighted by the dedicated service of our 700 trained volunteers. SVdP was named the "Nonprofit of the Year 2023" by Sen. Steven Glazer.

Sunflower Hill

Mission

To create places and spaces where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) live, work, learn, and thrive as part of the greater community.

Impact

In 2020 we opened our first affordable, independent housing community for people with I/DD, Sunflower Hill at Irby Ranch in Pleasanton, where we provide programs that support independence. We also provide gardening programs, cooking & social engagement classes to people with I/DD in the community.

Teen Esteem

Mission

Teen Esteem's goal is to educate, equip and empower students, parents and the community on issues young people face, while addressing the importance of self-respect and respect for others. We promote a message of healthy choices and risk avoidance using accurate and up-to-date statistics and information. Teen Esteem's dynamic, relevant presentations address today's challenges found at school and home. Our message to students is that your value is not based on what you do, but on who you are.

Impact

Since 1994, we've reached over 350,000 students and parents in the Tri-Valley through classroom presentations, school assemblies and parent education events. Topics we address include: mental health, suicide, social media, gaming, substance abuse, prescription drugs, vaping, bullying & relationships.

The Crayon Initiative

Mission

We bring happiness to children who are facing the stress of hospitalization by giving them the freedom that comes with creative play.

Impact

We have donated over 875,000 packs of crayons to hospitalized patients to use to express themselves through creative play, all while keeping over 425,000 pounds of non-biodegradable crayons out of the landfill.

The Sam Taylor Foundation

Mission

The Sam Taylor Foundation provides mental wellness and suicide prevention education for young people, and free mental health counseling for teens and young adults. We believe that cost, lack of insurance or lack of access should never be a barrier to young people receiving mental healthcare. We strive to reduce the stigma of mental health challenges, and to encourage young people to talk about their mental health struggles and seek help through qualified mental health professionals.

Impact

In our two years since founding, we have provided full courses of free mental health therapy for dozens of teens and young adults through a partnership with BetterHelp. We recently held a community awareness walk and raised enough money to fund over 200 additional therapy sessions.

Tri-Valley Air Quality Climate Alliance

Mission

We are a Tri-Valley organization dedicated to informing our communities about local air quality problems and their health impacts. We advocate for local, long-term, sustainable mitigation-strategies for poor air quality and climate impacts. From our diverse population we draw local leaders and advisors for guidance and counsel, as well as scientists and engineers to develop science-based insight and solutions.

Impact

We bring Air Quality & Climate lessons and expert advice to schools, public events, civic groups, & local governments. We provide home air filter box fans to reduce exposure to air pollutants. We incentivize zero-emission electric landscaping equipment.

Tri-Valley CAREs (Communities Against a Radioactive Environment)

Mission

Tri-Valley CAREs works to strengthen global security by stopping the development of new nuclear weapons in the U.S. and promoting the elimination of nuclear weapons globally. We seek to educate and include the public in decision making on the nuclear weapons work being done at Livermore Laboratory (LLNL), work toward an equitable cleanup of the toxic and radioactive pollution at LLNL Mainsite and its Site 300 testing facility, and to achieve justice for workers made ill by on-the-job exposures.

Impact

Since 1983, Tri-Valley CAREs has intervened to prevent many proposed projects at LLNL that posed risks to public health, the environment and global security. We have pushed the government to conduct a more thorough cleanup and educated the public about the complex issues that surround nuclear weapons.

Tri-Valley Haven

Mission

Tri-Valley Haven creates homes safe from abuse,

Impact

Tri-Valley Haven provides shelter to victims of domestic violence. We are the only organization in the Tri-Valley that provides a confidential shelter and the only shelter that accepts teenage boys as part of the program. Food, clothing and legal services are also provided.

Impact

Tri-Valley REACH has worked for over 30 years to deliver a path towards independence for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At REACH, we believe housing is the key to independence. Our rents start as low as $350 per month.

US CHINESE DANCE ASSOCIATION

Mission

Founded in 2014, US Chinese Dance Association (USCDA) is a nonprofit organization with the mission to showcase and promote Chinese culture by presenting high quality performing and fine arts projects. We strive to foster a deeper understanding and love for Chinese culture through dance and art.

Impact

Valley Humane Society

Mission

Valley Humane Society (VHS) creates a brighter future for cats and dogs by encouraging and strengthening the bond between people and pets. Impact

Valley Veterans Foundation (VVF) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization providing financial support and other resources for military student veterans and their families while pursuing post-secondary education.

Our Foundation provides two main scholarships in the form of a Honoring Women Veterans Scholarship and Challenge Grant Scholarships which are open to all Student Veterans.

Wellness Together

Mission

Wellness Together provides innovative mental health solutions to promote student mental health awareness, advocacy, and access. Our mission is to deliver effective mental health services for individuals and families everywhere.

Impact

Since 2016, Wellness Together has facilitated counseling sessions with over 110,000 students and families. In the 2022-2023 school year, we provided access to mental health services and supports to over 145,730 K-12 students, 20,300 college students, and 33,390 educators.

Z-Cares Foundation

Mission

The Z-Cares Foundation mission is to encourage meaningful conversations about youth mental health while reducing the stigma throughout communities.

Impact

Providing youth mental health awareness training, documentary screening, webinars and conferences to enable thousands of youth and their parents and guardians to have positive dialogues and reduce the stigma around anxiety, depression and a broad range of mental health concerns.
