Three Valleys Community Foundation (3VCF) and Embarcadero Media Foundation: Tri-Valley are proudly partnering to present an exclusive showing of the documentary “Stripped for Parts: American Journalism at the Crossroads” along with a moderated panel discussion.
We invite you to join us for a special screening and a robust discussion about the myriad challenges facing American journalism. “Stripped for Parts: American Journalism at the Crossroads” is a 90-minute documentary that tells the tale of how hedge fund firms’ entry into the news publishing industry has dismantled local newspapers “piece by piece,” creating a crisis within the very communities they serve, leaving “news deserts” and “ghost papers” in their wake. Notably, it references our very own East Bay Times, Contra Costa Times, and the Tri-Valley Herald.
Following the screening, we will host a moderated panel discussion featuring:
California State Senator Steve Glazer, District 7
Rick Goldsmith, Filmmaker, Producer, and Director of the documentary
Tim Hunt, Local Journalist
Don’t miss this opportunity to engage directly with industry experts and gain a deeper understanding of the state of journalism today and how you can help turn the tide to keep community journalism alive. Refreshments will be available. We look forward to seeing you there!
