Dublin Approves $50K to Support Three Valleys Community Foundation

The city of Dublin gave its official support to the development of a new community foundation for the region by allocating $50K to Three Valleys Community Foundation (3VCF) at their January 11 meeting.

“I am excited that the City of Dublin will partner with Three Valleys Community Foundation in such a unique, collaborative effort to pair local donors with non-profits and other support services,” noted Mayor Melissa Hernandez. “There are so many in our community who need help, and the Foundation will connect those who have means with those who need it most.”
The grant agreement, payable over three years, will support the administrative and operational functions associated with the launch of the Foundation. Three Valleys will also partner with the city on other programs to specifically support nonprofits and the local community.

“We’re grateful to Mayor Hernandez and the council for their vision and leadership,” said John Sensiba, board chair of Three Valleys Community Foundation. “As Founding Champions, they know the value a geographically based community foundation can have. Their support is helping to ensure our entire region can benefit from private philanthropic support. We also look forward to working with the city to establish new programs and opportunities that can directly help our nonprofits thrive.”

The city of Dublin joins Alameda County Supervisors David Haubert and Nate Miley in providing initial operating support to 3VCF. Both supervisors acknowledged the need for a community foundation in November 2021 with pledges of $50K each.

“Three Valleys provides an opportunity to open or transfer donor advised and field of interest funds that can benefit the more than 360 nonprofits in our area,” noted Sensiba. “We plan to work directly with donors to match their philanthropic desires with the very best nonprofits in our region.”

The launch of Three Valleys Community Foundation and the need for a geographically based philanthropic collaborator was highlighted in Vision 2040 – a report by Innovation Tri-Valley released in mid-2021. It is the first Vision 2040 goal that has been realized.

Three Valleys Community Foundation is an IRS recognized 501c3 nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. Federal Tax ID # 87-1782380.
